Symbotic Inc., an automation technology company, develops technologies to enhance operating efficiencies in modern warehouses. SYM is increasingly viewed by the market as a pure-play AI robotics provider supplying automated warehouse systems to large customers such as Walmart, Target, and Medline.

Its technology is widely regarded as the only credible alternative to Amazon’s in-house logistics automation, enabling fast, accurate fulfillment across thousands of SKUs and positioning Symbotic as a critical partner for retailers seeking to compete at scale. This core robotics opportunity is already well understood and largely reflected in the company’s valuation, with the stock trading at just under 16x revenue, supported by a massive backlog exceeding $22 billion and projected robotics revenue of roughly $4.2 billion by 2028.

What appears underappreciated, however, is Symbotic’s 35% ownership stake in GreenBox Systems, a joint venture with SoftBank focused on warehouse-as-a-service (WaaS). GreenBox aims to build multi-tenant, AI-enabled fulfillment centers powered by Symbotic’s proprietary robotics, creating a recurring, service-based revenue stream distinct from one-time system sales. The global WaaS market is estimated at $12 billion today, growing at roughly 15% annually to about $25 billion by 2028. If GreenBox captures even a 35% share as its first sites come online in 2026, this could translate into more than $3 billion in incremental revenue.

Combining this with Symbotic’s existing robotics business implies total revenue potential exceeding $7 billion later this decade, which, at current valuation multiples, suggests substantial upside to the stock even before considering international WaaS opportunities. Importantly, SoftBank’s financing of GreenBox reduces dilution risk, while any delay in revenue recognition appears to be a timing issue rather than a structural one. Overall, Symbotic presents a compelling long-term bullish case driven by a differentiated technology moat and an overlooked platform expansion opportunity.

Previously, we covered a bullish thesis on Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN) by FluentInQuality in May 2025, which highlighted AWS scale, advertising growth, logistics strength, and the company’s integrated business flywheel. AMZN’s stock price has appreciated by approximately 16.47% since our coverage due to improving AWS sentiment and earnings optimism. snem420 shares a similar view but emphasizes Symbotic’s automation platform enabling retailers to compete with Amazon’s logistics edge.

Symbotic Inc. is not on our list of the 30 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds.
