Silvaco Group Inc. (NASDAQ:SVCO) shares climbed 6.4% in premarket trading on Monday after the company announced a strategic collaboration with NVIDIA to develop advanced digital twin technology for semiconductor design and manufacturing using AI and accelerated computing.
The partnership combines Silvaco’s semiconductor simulation expertise with NVIDIA’s AI software and GPU computing platforms to create next-generation digital twins capable of improving chip development and production processes.
Collaboration targets faster and more accurate chip design
Under the agreement, Silvaco will integrate its physics-based simulation technologies with NVIDIA’s CUDA-X libraries, PhysicsNeMo, Omniverse libraries and Nemotron open models to build digital twins that can model, predict and optimize complex semiconductor systems.
The company also plans to leverage NVIDIA’s accelerated computing platform to enhance its semiconductor device, process, photonics and multiphysics simulation software.
As an early proof of concept, Silvaco successfully completed a fully scaled 3D finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulation of a photonic edge coupler containing 3.2 billion mesh nodes using 32 NVIDIA GPUs connected through NVLink in fewer than four hours. According to the company, the same workload failed to converge on traditional CPU-based systems while delivering simulation results within 0.15 dB of measured performance.
Four key areas of development
The companies said their collaboration will focus on four primary initiatives: GPU-accelerated physics simulations, AI-based surrogate modeling using NVIDIA PhysicsNeMo, digital twin visualization through NVIDIA Omniverse libraries and NVIDIA Cosmos, and scalable engineering workflows.
Silvaco expects these technologies to reduce simulation times from weeks to days by combining GPU acceleration with AI-driven modeling while also improving simulation accuracy through high-fidelity digital twins. The cloud-based visualization capabilities are also expected to enhance engineering collaboration.

According to the company, the jointly developed technologies are expected to support a range of applications, including semiconductor process and device simulation, AI-assisted chip development and semiconductor manufacturing optimization.
