The industrial technology company posted record orders and revenue following the Kito Crosby acquisition while lifting its fiscal 2027 outlook on stronger demand and integration progress.
Columbus McKinnon (NASDAQ:CMCO) reported record first-quarter fiscal 2027 orders and sales while raising its full-year financial outlook, reflecting continued momentum following its acquisition of Kito Crosby.
Net sales increased 125% year over year to $531.5 million, while orders rose 120% to a record $568.1 million. The company reported a book-to-bill ratio of 1.1x, indicating orders continued to outpace shipments during the quarter and supporting its backlog entering the second half of the fiscal year.
The strong performance was primarily driven by the Kito Crosby acquisition, alongside solid organic growth across both the legacy Columbus McKinnon business and the acquired operations. Legacy CMCO sales increased 12.7%, benefiting from both higher volumes and pricing across all geographic regions.
On a GAAP basis, the company recorded a net loss of $88.7 million, or $2.05 per diluted share, largely reflecting $70.3 million of acquisition and integration-related expenses. Excluding those items, adjusted net income increased 114% to $30.5 million, adjusted EPS rose 22% to $0.61, and adjusted EBITDA reached $111.5 million, with adjusted EBITDA margin expanding 720 basis points to 21.0%.
Management also reported operating cash flow of $25.6 million during the quarter and free cash flow excluding acquisition-related integration costs of $32.4 million.
The results suggest Columbus McKinnon is beginning to capture the financial benefits expected from the Kito Crosby acquisition more quickly than initially anticipated.
The combination of double-digit organic growth, record order intake and higher profitability indicates that integration efforts are supporting both revenue expansion and operational efficiency. Margin improvement driven by synergies and favorable material costs may strengthen confidence that the acquisition can deliver meaningful earnings accretion over time.
The raised guidance is also significant because it reflects management’s increased confidence in demand trends, backlog conversion and continued realization of cost synergies rather than relying solely on acquisition-related revenue growth.
Although leverage remains elevated at 4.9x under the company’s credit agreement, management reiterated that reducing debt remains its primary capital allocation priority, supported by improving cash generation.
Investors will likely focus on several key catalysts over the coming quarters:
