Owens Corning (NYSE:OC) reported stronger-than-expected second-quarter results, beating Wall Street forecasts for both earnings and revenue and sending its shares nearly 4% higher in pre-market trading.
The building materials manufacturer posted adjusted earnings of $3.93 per share, comfortably ahead of the analyst consensus estimate of $3.07. Quarterly revenue totalled $2.76 billion, exceeding expectations of $2.65 billion and remaining broadly unchanged from the same period last year.
The company generated an adjusted EBITDA margin from continuing operations of 24% during the quarter, highlighting resilient profitability despite a mixed market environment.
Chair and Chief Executive Officer Brian Chambers said the results reflected the benefits of the company’s strategic transformation.
“These outstanding second-quarter results demonstrate the strength of our reshaped company,” Chambers said. “Our performance is a direct result of our strategic pivot to build a large-scale, residential-focused building products company with unique and unifying competitive advantages across market-leading businesses.”
Looking ahead, Owens Corning expects third-quarter revenue to be between $2.6 billion and $2.7 billion, slightly below the level reported a year earlier.
The company also forecast an adjusted EBITDA margin of approximately 20% to 22% for the quarter.
Management said the conflict involving Iran is expected to increase inflationary pressures, resulting in approximately $40 million of additional costs during the third quarter.
The Roofing division generated net sales of $1.31 billion and delivered an EBITDA margin of 34%, continuing to be the company’s strongest-performing segment.
The Insulation business reported revenue of $971 million, representing annual growth of 4%, while achieving an EBITDA margin of 22%.
Meanwhile, the Doors segment generated revenue of $513 million, with an EBITDA margin of 11%, as sales declined 7% from the previous year.
Owens Corning returned a total of $264 million to shareholders during the quarter.
That included $200 million of share repurchases and $64 million paid through dividends, underscoring the company’s continued focus on capital returns alongside operational growth.
