OmniAb, Inc. (NASDAQ:OABI) has increased its financial guidance for 2026 after recent technology licensing and business development activity strengthened its expected year-end cash position.

The Emeryville, California-based antibody discovery technology company now expects to finish 2026 with cash and cash equivalents of between $49 million and $53 million. That represents a substantial increase from its previous forecast of $37 million to $41 million.

Licensing activity strengthens cash expectations

Chief Executive Officer Matt Foehr said the improved outlook reflects progress across OmniAb’s business development and licensing operations.

“Recent business development and licensing activity has enabled us to again raise our 2026 financial guidance and significantly increase our cash outlook,” he said.

The revised forecast provides further evidence of the contribution that licensing agreements can make to OmniAb’s financial position as the company expands the commercial reach of its antibody discovery technologies.

OmniAb generates revenue through technology partnerships

OmniAb licenses antibody discovery research technologies to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies as well as academic institutions.

Its commercial model provides several potential sources of income throughout the development and commercialisation process. These include upfront and technology-access fees, service revenue and milestone payments.

The company can also receive royalties on commercial sales of products developed using its technologies, giving OmniAb the potential to participate financially in the longer-term success of programmes originating from its discovery platform.
