Navios Maritime Partners L.P. (NYSE:NMM) delivered second-quarter results ahead of Wall Street expectations, supported by higher charter rates and a sizeable year-on-year increase in revenue.
Shares of the shipping partnership gained 1.57% in U.S. premarket trading following the earnings announcement.
Adjusted earnings came in at $4.65 per unit, exceeding the analyst consensus of $4.31. Revenue climbed 25.2% year on year to $410.2 million from $327.6 million, comfortably beating the $361.32 million forecast.
Higher charter rates drive quarterly growth
Improved vessel earnings were a major contributor to the stronger performance. Navios Partners recorded a time charter equivalent rate of $28,512 per day during the quarter, an increase of 23.8% from $23,040 per day a year earlier.
Net income reached $167.9 million for the second quarter, equivalent to $5.78 per common unit.
“I am pleased with our results. For the second quarter and first six months of 2026, we reported net income of $167.9 million and $274.3 million, respectively, representing earnings per common unit of $5.78 and $9.42, respectively,” said Angeliki Frangou, Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer.
Navios Partners also maintained shareholder distributions, paying a quarterly cash distribution of $0.06 per unit on August 13, 2026.
Navios launches $200 million unit buyback programme
Alongside its quarterly results, the Board of Directors authorised a new common unit repurchase programme worth up to $200 million, which is expected to take effect during the third quarter of 2026.
The programme adds another potential route for returning capital to unitholders following the company’s strong first-half performance.
Fleet investment continues with VLCC and capesize additions
Navios Partners remained active in reshaping its diversified shipping fleet during the quarter.
The company agreed to acquire three newbuild VLCC tankers equipped with scrubbers for a combined $361.5 million. It also secured a Japanese newbuild capesize vessel through a ten-year bareboat agreement carrying an implied purchase price of $70.1 million.
At the same time, the partnership agreed to sell a containership built in 2008 for $34.5 million, continuing its programme of fleet optimisation and capital recycling.
Contracted revenue provides long-term visibility
Navios Partners currently has approximately $4.4 billion of contracted revenue extending through 2037, providing substantial forward earnings visibility.
For the final six months of 2026, 77.1% of available vessel days are already fixed, while 50.9% of available days have been secured for 2027.
The combination of stronger charter rates, expanding revenue, continued fleet investment and a sizeable contracted backlog leaves Navios Partners with significant visibility into future cash generation while maintaining its capital-return programme.
