Alaska Airlines (NYSE:ALK) is expanding its international network with new seasonal nonstop flights from Seattle to Athens and Paris beginning in May 2027, adding two major European destinations to its growing long-haul operation.

The carrier plans to operate both services through October 2027 using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, further strengthening Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s role as the airline’s principal hub.

Seattle-Athens route to become Alaska Airlines’ longest flight

The new Seattle-Athens service, operating as flight AS196, is scheduled to launch on May 12, 2027, with three flights per week.

Alaska Airlines says the route will be the first nonstop connection ever offered between Seattle and Athens, as well as the only nonstop service linking the U.S. West Coast directly with the Greek capital.

The journey will also become the longest route in Alaska Airlines’ network, marking another step in the carrier’s expansion into long-distance international travel.

Paris flights to operate five times a week

Service between Seattle and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport will begin on May 25, 2027. Flight AS136 will operate five times per week through October, also using Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

According to Alaska Airlines, the service will make it the first oneworld alliance carrier to operate a nonstop route between the West Coast and Paris on this connection.

Introductory roundtrip Main Cabin fares will start at $999, with the promotional pricing available for purchase through August 26.

Dreamliners to offer business suites and Starlink Wi-Fi

Passengers on both routes will have access to lie-flat business class suites and a curated onboard dining programme.

Alaska Airlines will also provide Starlink Wi-Fi to Atmos Rewards members, adding high-speed connectivity to its long-haul passenger offering.

Both services will depart from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Alaska Airlines’ largest hub. The carrier currently operates more than 360 departures on peak days from Seattle, connecting the airport with 110 nonstop destinations.

Alaska targets further international expansion from Seattle

The addition of Athens and Paris will take Alaska Airlines’ intercontinental network from Seattle to seven destinations by summer 2027.

The two European cities will join existing nonstop services to Reykjavik, London, Rome, Seoul and Tokyo.

Alaska Airlines has broader ambitions for its Seattle international network and says it intends to introduce at least five additional intercontinental destinations by 2030.

The carrier also announced a multi-season marketing partnership with Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold to support promotion of the new international routes.

Alaska Airlines forms part of Alaska Air Group, which also owns Hawaiian Airlines and Horizon Air.
