Nvidia Targets About 2 GW of Australian Data Centre Capacity by 2027

By Fiona Craig | September 10, 2026, 6:30 AM

Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) said it is working with Australian companies to develop approximately 2 gigawatts of data centre computing capacity in the country by 2027 as demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure increases.

The planned capacity would more than double Australia’s current computing load, according to the supplied information. Nvidia did not disclose financial terms for the partnerships.

The companies involved include Firmus, Sharon AI, IREN, ResetData, Megaport, CDC, NextDC and AirTrunk. They will operate the AI facilities, while Nvidia will provide its DSX platform, accelerated computing technology, networking, software and ecosystem support.

“Expanding capacity in Australia will enable local innovators to develop models, applications, and agents, while supporting additional power generation projects to meet regional and global demand for AI computing,” Nvidia said in a statement.

Nvidia to Provide DSX Platform and Nemotron Models

Nvidia said the additional infrastructure would give Australian users greater access to accelerated computing and its open Nemotron models for developing AI models, applications and agents.

“DSX is a full-stack platform that is compatible with the CUDA ecosystem and enhanced through software across the infrastructure lifecycle, making AI factories more productive, fungible, and durable—and a new asset class to invest in,” said Raj Mirpuri, Nvidia’s vice president of global AI clouds and infrastructure ecosystem.

“Through our partnerships with Australian NCPs, this infrastructure can support multiple generations of Nvidia compute and expand local access to accelerated compute and open Nvidia Nemotron models, helping Australian innovators develop AI at home,” Mirpuri added.

According to Nvidia, the planned infrastructure is intended to serve AI computing demand from Australian users as well as regional and global customers.
