Gogo (NASDAQ:GOGO) has secured a satellite communications contract valued at more than $15 million with an undisclosed overseas government customer, extending an existing relationship to provide connectivity services for government aircraft.
According to a company announcement, the agreement covers geostationary (GEO) satellite connectivity, allowing the customer to maintain communications across international operating regions.
The contract represents a renewal of an established commercial relationship, with Gogo highlighting the importance of service reliability, customer support and data privacy in securing the agreement.
The company did not disclose the identity of the government customer, the duration of the contract or the number of aircraft covered.
Under the agreement, Gogo will provide satellite communications services using GEO technology, which relies on satellites operating in fixed positions relative to the Earth’s surface.
The company highlighted the continued relevance of GEO satellite networks in regions where low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite services face regulatory or operational restrictions.
According to Gogo, GEO connectivity remains available in markets including Russia, China and India, where access to certain LEO satellite services can be limited.
The availability of alternative satellite technologies can be important for government aircraft operating across multiple jurisdictions with different communications requirements.
By providing GEO connectivity, Gogo aims to support reliable communications for customers whose aircraft operate internationally.
The agreement also demonstrates continued demand for established satellite communications systems alongside the expansion of newer LEO-based services.
Gogo Chief Executive Officer Christopher Moore attributed the contract renewal to the company’s established relationship with the government customer.
“This renewal reflects the confidence built through years of reliable performance and responsive support,” Moore said.
The company emphasised that maintaining dependable connectivity and providing technical assistance have been important factors in its relationship with the customer.
Gogo provides communications services to business aviation operators and government customers, with its satellite connectivity offering designed to support aircraft operating across international routes.
The latest agreement adds more than $15 million in contracted value to the company’s government aviation business.
However, Gogo did not provide details on the expected revenue recognition schedule or the financial contribution of the contract during individual reporting periods.
Gogo also identified its approach to data privacy as a factor influencing the customer’s decision to renew the agreement.
“At Gogo, our philosophy is to minimize data retention and collect only the information necessary to manage, deliver and support our services,” Moore said.
The company stated that its data management practices are designed to limit the collection and retention of customer information to what is necessary for providing its services.
These considerations can be particularly relevant to government aviation customers, which may have specific requirements concerning the handling of operational and communications data.
In addition to its satellite services, Gogo operates a global customer support network that provides assistance around the clock in multiple languages.
The company said it can dispatch a technician to an aircraft within 24 hours when required, supporting customers that need rapid technical assistance.
This service capability forms part of Gogo’s broader offering to aviation operators seeking connectivity and ongoing operational support.
Headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado, Gogo provides connectivity solutions to business aviation and government customers.
The newly announced agreement strengthens its existing relationship with an overseas government customer and reinforces the role of GEO satellite services in its aviation connectivity portfolio.
The contract also highlights the importance of customer retention and long-term service relationships in the company’s government aviation operations.
Although the customer and specific contract terms remain undisclosed, the agreement provides Gogo with more than $15 million in contracted business.
The company will continue providing satellite connectivity and technical support under the renewed arrangement, with service reliability and data privacy remaining central elements of its offering.
