Profound Medical and Telix Pharmaceuticals Partner to Advance Prostate Cancer Imaging and Treatment Education

By Fiona Craig | October 09, 2026, 8:38 AM

Profound Medical (NASDAQ:PROF) and Telix Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:TLX) have signed a co-education agreement aimed at increasing physician awareness of how advanced diagnostic imaging can support treatment planning for prostate cancer.

The collaboration will focus on the complementary use of Telix’s prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography (PSMA-PET) imaging products and Profound Medical’s MRI-guided TULSA-PRO treatment platform.

According to the companies, the agreement establishes a framework for educational activities targeting urologists, radiologists, nuclear medicine specialists and prostate cancer treatment centres in the United States and international markets.

The initiative is intended to improve clinicians’ understanding of how PSMA-PET imaging may contribute to patient assessment and treatment decisions involving minimally invasive prostate procedures.

Collaboration Combines Diagnostic Imaging and MRI-Guided Treatment Education

Under the agreement, Profound Medical and Telix will develop educational initiatives highlighting the potential clinical applications of their respective technologies.

Telix’s Gozellix and Illuccix products use PSMA-targeted PET imaging to help identify and assess prostate cancer.

Profound’s TULSA-PRO platform, meanwhile, uses real-time magnetic resonance imaging to guide the delivery of ultrasound energy during the TULSA Procedure, a minimally invasive approach to prostate tissue ablation.

The companies plan to demonstrate how diagnostic information obtained through PSMA-PET imaging can complement MRI-guided treatment planning.

Educational activities will include participation in medical society meetings, physician speaker programmes and webinars.

The collaboration will also involve developing clinical case studies and other educational materials designed to support discussions among healthcare professionals.

The agreement is focused on physician education rather than announcing a new commercial product or an immediate integration of the two companies’ technologies.

Profound Developing PSMA-PET and MRI Image-Fusion Capabilities

Alongside the educational partnership, Profound Medical is developing software capabilities designed to combine PSMA-PET and MRI imaging information.

The company plans to introduce the functionality through a future update to its TULSA-PRO Treatment Delivery Console.

The proposed image-fusion technology would allow diagnostic imaging information from Telix’s PSMA-PET products to be incorporated into treatment planning alongside real-time MRI images.

This could provide physicians with additional information when assessing the location and extent of prostate cancer before performing a TULSA Procedure.

By combining different imaging approaches, clinicians may be able to develop a more detailed understanding of disease characteristics and determine whether a particular treatment strategy is appropriate.

However, the software functionality remains under development, and the companies have not provided a confirmed release date.

The potential clinical benefits of the proposed integration will depend on its development, implementation and supporting evidence.

PSMA-PET Imaging May Support Patient Selection

Profound Medical said PSMA-PET imaging could help physicians identify patients whose prostate cancer has spread beyond the prostate gland.

This includes detecting distant metastases or disease involvement outside the area being considered for local treatment.

Such information may be important when determining whether a patient is an appropriate candidate for the TULSA Procedure or whether a different treatment approach should be considered.

The company also suggested that more detailed imaging could help refine the population of patients evaluated for MRI-guided prostate treatment.

Profound cited research indicating that approximately 85% of prostate cancers are multifocal, meaning cancer is present in more than one location within the prostate.

This characteristic can complicate treatment planning because physicians must consider the distribution of disease when evaluating the potential benefits and limitations of localised treatment.

The combination of PSMA-PET and MRI information may therefore provide additional context for clinical decision-making, although its effect on treatment outcomes has not been established by the agreement itself.

Executives Highlight Physician Education Opportunities

Arun Menawat, Profound Medical’s chief executive officer and chairman, said the agreement would strengthen the company’s relationship with Telix and expand its engagement with healthcare professionals.

“This agreement strengthens our relationship with an important strategic participant in the prostate cancer ecosystem and increases our access to urologists across the U.S. and internationally,” Menawat said.

The partnership could allow Profound to introduce more physicians to the potential role of its TULSA-PRO platform within prostate cancer care.

Kevin Richardson, chief executive officer of Telix Precision Medicine, said the collaboration was intended to increase awareness of the role PSMA-PET imaging can play in patient selection and treatment planning.

Richardson highlighted the potential relevance of the technology across different minimally invasive treatment approaches.

The companies’ educational activities will focus on helping physicians understand how diagnostic imaging and treatment technologies may be used together during clinical assessment.

Agreement Expands Cooperation in Prostate Cancer Care

The co-education agreement brings together two companies operating in different areas of prostate cancer management.

Telix specialises in diagnostic imaging technologies, while Profound Medical develops MRI-guided therapeutic systems.

Their collaboration reflects increasing interest in using advanced imaging to support more individualised treatment planning.

For Profound, the agreement provides an opportunity to increase awareness of TULSA-PRO among physicians who use PSMA-PET imaging in prostate cancer assessment.

For Telix, the initiative could broaden clinical understanding of how its imaging products may inform decisions involving minimally invasive procedures.

The planned software development represents a separate potential opportunity to bring diagnostic imaging information more directly into Profound’s treatment planning process.

However, the companies have not disclosed financial terms for the agreement or provided forecasts for its potential revenue contribution.

The immediate focus will be on physician education, clinical engagement and the continued development of imaging integration capabilities.
