A $250,000 Sands Cares donation supports the HAPI Medical Center, ACDC's team of language specialists, and college readiness and vocational programs for youth.
LAS VEGAS, May 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Las Vegas Sands (NYSE: LVS) has contributed $250,000 through the Sands Cares global community engagement program to the Asian Community Development Council (ACDC) for its Healthy Asian Pacific Islanders (HAPI) Medical Center, API Language Link and developmental programs for high school and college students.
Sands has previously supported these three program areas, but provided additional 2025 funding under the youth development umbrella to underwrite a new ACDC program for students considering vocational paths, complementing its support for ACDC's College Readiness Program.
Sands' previous contributions helped ACDC launch the Language Link in 2021 and open the HAPI Medical Center in 2022, and the company has continued its support of these offerings since that time.
"Sands has been an integral contributor to the impact we have achieved through the API Language Link and the HAPI Medical Center," Vida Lin, president and founder of ACDC, said. "We appreciate the company's understanding of our community's unique needs and its willingness to invest in helping us overcome the challenges people face, as well as in ensuring the young people in our community receive mentorship and developmental opportunities to successfully pursue their goals."
The HAPI Medical Center provides culturally sensitive primary health care spanning urgent care for chronic disease management, physical examinations and preventative care. The center offers free medical care days on a weekly basis and hosts community health care events to offer medical and dental services, screenings such as mammograms and vaccinations.
Because of Sands Cares' support of the API Language Link, the clinic has a 100% bilingual staff to deliver high-quality, in-language care that removes barriers often faced in obtaining health care services by the Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community.
The API Language Link provides the AANHPI community with translation services in 11 languages at the HAPI Medical Center as well as through the organization's direct service locations in Southern Nevada and Reno. The 2025 Sands Cares funding is underwriting ACDC's hiring of new language specialists to meet the need for language services in the state.
Sands Cares funding also is supporting ACDC's College Readiness Bootcamp, a series of higher education workshops ACDC hosts at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, as well as ACDC's annual GraduAsian ceremony, which provides a platform for AANHPI graduates from Nevada universities to celebrate their achievements.
The increase in youth development funding through Sands Cares is enabling ACDC to create a complementary program to the College Readiness Bootcamp for students pursuing vocational paths. The investment will assist ACDC in providing training to help students identify and pursue vocational careers, as well as increase mentorship capacity for AANHPI high school students.
Last year, ACDC served more than 260 patients, many of whom are uninsured or underinsured, at the HAPI Medical Center, as well as hosted 40 vaccine clinics, delivering nearly 500 vaccines. Using API Language Link services, ACDC has delivered culturally sensitive food to people in need, serving nearly 7,500 AANHPI families and more than 11,000 individuals.
API Language Link specialists also helped enroll more than 1,200 people in qualified health plans last year and assisted with voter registration for nearly 3,300 people in Clark County and 480 people in Washoe County. With Sands' support, ACDC's College Readiness Bootcamp educated more than 400 students and their parents on the importance of higher education and financial scholarships.
"ACDC's services are essential to the AANHPI community as they meet both immediate needs for health care and food, as well as strengthen the community's voice and representation," Ron Reese, senior vice president of global communications and corporate affairs, said. "We increased our funding in 2025 because ACDC's desire to create vocational pathways for young people completely aligns with our focus on workforce development and providing resources to fit all types of skills, jobs and careers."
Sands' partnership with ACDC supports the Sands Cares focus on advancing community organizations, assisting diverse groups in overcoming barriers, providing resources for people facing hardships and building the workforce of the future.
