The Surfactants segment products are used in consumer and industrial cleaning and disinfection products, agricultural products, lubricating ingredients, oil field chemicals, and other applications. The Polymers segment deals mainly with rigid foam for thermal insulation in the construction industry, plastics, building materials, refrigeration systems, and CASE applications. The Specialty Products segment consists of chemicals used in food, flavoring, nutritional supplements, and pharmaceutical applications. The company was founded by Alfred C. Stepan Jr. in 1932 and is headquartered in Northbrook, IL.
