Independence Realty Trust, Inc. is a real estate investment trust, which acquires, owns, operates, improves, and manages multifamily apartment communities across non-gateway U.S. markets. It operates through the Same-Store and Non Same-Store segments. The Same-Store segment includes properties that were owned and not a development property at the beginning of the previous year, and that have not been sold or identified as held for sale. The Non Same-Store segment refers to the properties that did not meet the definition of a same-store property as of the beginning of the previous year. The company was founded on March 26, 2009 and is headquartered in Philadelphia, PA.
