Stifel Expects Meaningful Upside for Micron (MU) Results and Guidance Driven by Stronger AI Demand and Memory Price Rally

Micron Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) is one of the best Reddit stocks to invest in right now. On December 12, Stifel raised the firm’s price target on Micron to $300 from $195, while maintaining a Buy rating on the shares. The firm expects Micron’s FQ1 2026 results and FQ2 2026 guidance next week to show meaningful upside, driven by the tipping point of stronger AI infrastructure demand and the resulting sharp rally in memory prices. The firm remains positive on Micron due to sustained favorable industry conditions combined with the company’s focus on profit and bit optimization.

In the preceding week, on December 3, Micron Technology announced its exit from its consumer memory business, discontinuing the sale of its Crucial-branded products, including consumer DRAM modules and SSDs, at retailers, e-tailers, and distributors worldwide. The company will continue product shipments through the consumer channel until the end of February 2026 (end of FQ2 2026), after which warranty services will remain in place.

This is a response to a global supply shortage of essential semiconductors, particularly High-Bandwidth Memory/HBM, driven by the soaring demand from AI data centers. HBM, which involves stacking chips vertically to reduce power consumption and process massive volumes of data, is a high-value product that fetches lucrative margins. In the FQ4 2025, Micron’s HBM revenue grew to ~$2 billion, implying an annualized run rate of nearly $8 billion.
