BioMarin Beats Q3 Revenue Forecasts but Cuts 2026 Outlook on Voxzogo Timing and Deal Costs

By Fiona Craig | November 03, 2026, 6:19 AM

BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. (NASDAQ:BMRN) reported third-quarter revenue above Wall Street expectations, supported by stronger-than-anticipated sales across several treatments for rare diseases. However, the biotechnology company lowered its full-year revenue and earnings guidance, citing changes in expected Voxzogo orders, weaker projections for its metabolic conditions business and costs associated with recent business development transactions.

Quarterly revenue reached $1.025 billion, exceeding analysts’ consensus estimate of $989 million. Earnings per share came in at $0.23, matching market expectations.

Despite the revenue beat, the revised annual forecasts highlighted uncertainty surrounding the timing of product orders and the financial impact of the company’s acquisition and licensing activities.

Galafold and Vimizim Lead Revenue Outperformance

BioMarin’s third-quarter revenue exceeded expectations by approximately $36 million, with several products delivering stronger sales than analysts had anticipated.

Galafold was a significant contributor, generating revenue $11 million above consensus forecasts.

Vimizim also performed ahead of expectations, exceeding projections by $16 million, while PomOp contributed an additional $6 million above estimates.

The stronger results from these treatments helped BioMarin surpass its overall quarterly revenue target.

However, performance varied across the company’s portfolio, with several other therapies falling short of forecasts.

Voxzogo, Naglazyme and Palynziq Miss Expectations

The positive contributions from Galafold, Vimizim and PomOp were partially offset by weaker-than-expected revenue from three other products.

Voxzogo sales came in $16 million below analyst estimates, while Naglazyme missed expectations by $18 million.

Palynziq also underperformed, generating revenue $15 million below projections.

The mixed performance demonstrated differences in sales trends across BioMarin’s rare disease portfolio, despite the company’s overall revenue exceeding consensus estimates.

Voxzogo was particularly important to the updated outlook, with management identifying the timing of a potential order as a factor affecting its full-year revenue expectations.

BioMarin Reduces Voxzogo Forecast on Potential Order Delay

BioMarin lowered the midpoint of its full-year Voxzogo revenue guidance by $25 million.

The revision reflects uncertainty surrounding a potential $70 million order that could move from the fourth quarter of 2026 into the first quarter of 2027.

If the order is delayed, the associated revenue would fall outside the current financial year, affecting BioMarin’s reported 2026 performance.

The company did not indicate that the potential order had been cancelled, making the timing of its recognition an important consideration for investors.

The development highlights how large individual orders can influence quarterly and annual revenue expectations, particularly for specialised pharmaceutical products.

Full-Year Revenue Guidance Cut by $50 Million

BioMarin reduced the midpoint of its total 2026 revenue guidance by $50 million, despite reporting third-quarter sales ahead of expectations.

The revised forecast incorporates several changes across its business.

Expected Voxzogo revenue was lowered by $25 million, while the outlook for the metabolic conditions business was reduced by $38 million.

These downward adjustments were partially offset by a $25 million increase in expected revenue from other sources.

The changes reflect a more cautious assessment of the company’s remaining 2026 sales opportunities.

Although the third-quarter revenue beat demonstrated strength in several product categories, the revised guidance suggests that management expects some of that performance to be offset by weaker contributions elsewhere.

Earnings Outlook Lowered Following Acquisition and Licensing Deals

BioMarin also made a substantial reduction to its full-year earnings guidance.

The company now expects fiscal 2026 earnings per share between $2.80 and $3.10, compared with its previous forecast of $4.90 to $5.10.

The reduction primarily reflects the financial impact of business development transactions, including the Alesta acquisition and licensing arrangements involving BMN 450.

Together, these transactions are expected to have a negative effect of $1.87 per share on reported earnings.

Excluding that impact, BioMarin’s updated guidance implies earnings per share of $4.67 to $4.97.

On this adjusted basis, the midpoint is $0.18 below the previous guidance midpoint, indicating that most of the headline reduction relates to the acquisition and licensing costs rather than a comparable decline in underlying earnings expectations.

The distinction is important for investors assessing the company’s operating performance separately from transaction-related expenses.

Amicus Acquisition Synergies Expected Ahead of Schedule

BioMarin reported faster-than-anticipated progress in achieving cost savings associated with its acquisition of Amicus.

Management now expects the transaction to become earnings-accretive within nine months of closing, compared with its previous estimate of 12 months.

The revised timetable indicates that anticipated cost synergies are being realised more quickly than originally projected.

Earlier-than-expected benefits could help offset some of the financial pressures reflected in the company’s updated guidance.

The improvement also suggests progress in integrating the acquired business and identifying operational efficiencies.

However, the full financial contribution will depend on the continued execution of the integration process and the timing of the expected savings.

Outlook

BioMarin delivered third-quarter revenue above analyst expectations, with Galafold, Vimizim and PomOp providing important contributions to the results.

However, weaker sales from Voxzogo, Naglazyme and Palynziq, alongside uncertainty over the timing of a potential $70 million Voxzogo order, contributed to a reduction in the company’s annual revenue forecast.

The substantial cut to reported earnings guidance primarily reflects acquisition and licensing costs, while the smaller underlying adjustment indicates a more limited change in operating expectations.

Faster-than-expected cost synergies from the Amicus acquisition represent a positive development, with the transaction now expected to become earnings-accretive three months earlier than previously anticipated.

Investors will be monitoring the timing of Voxzogo orders, performance across the metabolic conditions business and the continued integration of Amicus as BioMarin approaches the end of 2026.
