On May 21, JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) revealed its Center for Geopolitics (CfG), a new advisory division that offers the bank's clients in-depth analysis and guidance on navigating the current global political and economic environment.

The CfG's role at JPMorgan is that of a targeted "special forces" team that offers strategic geopolitical insights to an array of clients, from high-net-worth individuals to major corporations. The unit will make use of JPMorgan's International Council, which comprises notable individuals like former U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan, former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair.
The reveal follows Jamie Dimon, the chief executive of JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM), stating in his most recent annual letter to shareholders that investors are facing "the most perilous and complicated geopolitical and economic environment" since 1945. Notably, the CfG's initial submissions include several reports that tackle critical global issues, such as the Middle East, Europe's autonomy, and the future of Russia and Ukraine.
Derek Chollet, a Washington policy expert who the bank appointed on May 21 to lead the CfG, told Fortune that the "lean and mean" operation is satisfying a growing customer need:
“Beneath [Dimon’s] advocacy and very public discussion of all this over the last several years is, there’s a sense that this really matters to clients.”
