FuelCell Energy, Inc. engages in the research, development, and clean technology manufacturing of stationary fuel cell energy platforms that decarbonize power and produce hydrogen. The firm's product portfolio is based on two electrochemical platforms, carbonate and solid oxide. Both platforms can support power generation and combined heat and power applications using a variety of fuels, including natural gas, renewable biogas, and hydrogen. The carbonate platforms can also capture CO2 from an external source, utilizing the flue stream of a power plant or an industrial boiler as a replacement for traditional air intake. The solid oxide platform can operate on pure hydrogen fuel. The company was founded by Bernard Baker and Martin Klein in 1969 and is headquartered in Danbury, CT.
