EVgo Previews 750kW EV Charging System Ahead of Planned 2027 Rollout

By Fiona Craig | September 29, 2026, 9:32 AM

EVgo Inc. (NASDAQ:EVGO) has previewed a next-generation electric vehicle charging system capable of delivering up to 750kW of charging power, with deployment expected to begin in 2027.

Design, development and testing of the system are underway at EVgo’s Innovation Lab in El Segundo, California, with Delta Electronics supporting the co-development process.

EVgo expects to unveil the final charger design in 2027.

New Chargers to Feature Dynamic Power Sharing

The charging system will incorporate dynamic power sharing technology designed to adjust power distribution across individual dispensers in real time according to the requirements of connected vehicles.

EVgo said the chargers will also include North American Charging System, or NACS, connectors, touchless payment interfaces and changes intended to improve cable manoeuvrability.

According to the company, the system is expected to charge the fastest-charging vehicles currently available in the US market in approximately 10 minutes.

Actual charging times will depend on factors including the vehicle’s charging settings, battery condition and other operating conditions.

EVgo Reports Increase in Charging Rates

EVgo Chief Executive Badar Khan said charging rates across the company’s network have increased by nearly 20% over the past two years.

“We expect that to continue, and our new architecture will help meet growing demand for high-power charging,” Khan said.

The expectation for continued increases in charging rates represents the company’s outlook and will depend partly on the capabilities of vehicles using its network.

EVgo Reports 1.8 Million Customer Accounts

EVgo said it is among a limited number of US charging networks that design their own charging equipment.

The company reported approximately 1.8 million customer accounts and said it analyses data generated by more than 10 million charging sessions annually.

The supplied information does not provide pricing for the new charging system, planned deployment volumes or financial forecasts associated with its rollout.
