The last week of January will bring a handful of economic indicators, as well as the Federal Reserve's latest interest rate decision. Currently, the CME Fedwatch tool is showing a 95% chance that interest rates will remain the same.
On the earnings front, American Airlines (AAL), Boeing (BA), Chevron (CVX), Dow (DOW), Exxon Mobil (XOM), IBM (IBM), JetBlue Airways (JBLU), Lockheed Martin (LMT), Meta Platforms (META), Microsoft (MSFT), RTX (RTX), SoFi Technologies (SOFI), Tesla (TSLA), Texas Instruments (TXN), UnitedHealth (UNH), UPS (UPS), and Western Digital (WDC) are just some of the companies reporting next week.
Below is the schedule of key market events for the week ahead. All economic dates are tentative and subject to change.
Monday, Jan. 26 will bring previously delayed durable goods orders.
Consumer confidence data is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27.
Wednesday, Jan. 28, features the Federal Open Market Committee's (FOMC) interest rate decision, followed by a speech from Fed Chair Jerome Powell.
Regularly scheduled jobs data is on tap Thursday, Jan. 29, along with previously delayed U.S. trade deficit data, wholesale inventories, and factory orders. Revised productivity data is also due out.
Friday, Jan. 30, will bring the delayed producer price index (PPI) and core PPI.
